Physical movement is a foundation for health. Circulation, breath, balance, and tone lead to healthy bodies and staves off disease and discomfort. Not only are there physical benefits to moving our body, there are many cognitive processes such as reasoning, memory, and attention that are activated when we engage in physical activity. Physical health alone is not what leads to a long and fulfilling life.
Mindsets are attitudes, assumptions, and beliefs that determine how we view the world. To have a flexible and agile mindset means we can be open to changes and better navigate through uncertainty. When we get mentally stressed and stuck in life, if we can improve our internal narratives we can improve our energy by creating movement in how we think about things. Reframing problems in ways that serve us and are actionable and help us move forward. Mental fitness is strengthened through conversations with others, because sharing and seeking different viewpoints strengthens our ability think through our own challenges. This is called radical collaboration.
We are emotional beings. Allowing for the movement of emotions to happen without reacting to them or attaching a story, is one of the keys to reducing anxiety, depression, anger, and a whole range of distressing internal emotional environments. When emotions are suppressed and not allowed to move within us, we start to behave in ways that don't serve us. We get narrow and tight - reducing movement in our thoughts. We find it hard to be open-minded and objective when faced with obstacles. Movement of our emotions means allowing for their fluidity, without letting them define you. In other words, feel the emotion and then let it pass through you without getting hung up on it. It's not about control, but more about awareness of unhelpful emotions gaining traction and deciding to unattached yourself from the emotion. This is self-leadership.
To us, movement spiritually is staying in tune with our own evolution and purpose in life. People around us impact our dynamics and circumstances, constantly giving us lessons to learn each new season. Awareness of our spark - what makes us shine, what dims us - requires movement to adapt as we age and change over time. Clarity of purpose and path comes from checking in and listening to our inner selves regularly. Sometimes adjustments need to be made to be able to hear that inner voice. Some people need to climb a mountain to create movement in their spirit. Others might need to talk to another human to find movement and confidence to make different choices. To stay stagnant spiritually is to feel cloudy and lose connection with your gifts and path-- which may lead to confusion, regret, and a longing for something else. A loss of presence, a dimming. Opposite of that then, to be spiritually alive and moving means to navigate the noise and build intentionality into your life to help yourself stay connected to what matters to you.
